What this amendment would do

SA 6282, submitted by Mr. HUSTED, aims to add a new section to the bill regarding the lease of real property by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The purpose of this amendment is to change Section 216 of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Authorization Act, Fiscal Year 1989, to:

  • Update legal references from section 321 of the Act of June 30, 1932, to section 1302 of title 40 or section 20145 of title 51 of the United States Code.

  • Change references from the Lewis Research Center to the Glenn Research Center in Ohio.

  • Replace general references to "an Institute" with the Ohio Aerospace Institute.

  • Add "protection of national security" as a purpose alongside space engineers.

  • Allow the Administration to lease any owned or operated facilities of the Ohio Aerospace Institute.

  • Clarify that all references to the Ohio Aerospace Institute include its successors and assigns.
