What this amendment would do

SA 6281, submitted by Mr. Husted, aims to change the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Authorization Act, Fiscal Year 1989.

The purpose of this amendment is to authorize the lease of real property by NASA to the Ohio Aerospace Institute.

Specifically, it adds the following to the bill:

  • It changes references from "the Lewis Research Center" to the Glenn Research Center in Ohio.

  • It replaces general references to "an Institute" with the Ohio Aerospace Institute.

  • It expands the scope of activities to include the protection of national security.

  • It allows the Administrator to directly contract for services related to aeronautical and space research, the training of engineers, national security protection, and the transfer of technology between public and private sectors.

  • It allows for the lease or lease back of facilities owned or operated by the Ohio Aerospace Institute.

  • It clarifies that references to the Ohio Aerospace Institute include its successors and assigns.
