What this amendment would do

SA 6252, submitted by Mr. Schatz, aims to add a requirement for a report to be included in title III of bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to have the Secretary of the Air Force provide a report to the House and Senate Committees on Armed Services regarding the infrastructure needs and limitations of the Agile Combat Employment model.

The report must include:

  • An assessment of the gap between available infrastructure and the new infrastructure needed for the model's rollout.

  • Challenges in developing pre-positioned infrastructure at austere sites and a list of the most urgently needed support infrastructure.

  • An assessment of existing maintenance facilities for complex aircraft repair, including the resources needed for repairs and the reasons these facilities at austere locations may fall into disrepair.

  • A description of logistical challenges involving the movement of personnel, spare parts, and equipment based on the current status of infrastructure at austere locations.
