What this amendment would do

SA 5808, proposed by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a "Transparency and accountability" section to the end of section 202 of the bill.

The purpose of this amendment is to allocate at least $300,000,000 for the following:

  • The implementation and deployment of body-worn cameras for law enforcement officers performing immigration enforcement activities authorized by the Immigration and Nationality Act.

  • The storage of footage captured by these cameras and making that footage accessible to Congress and the subjects of the footage, following existing law.

What Congress actually voted on

One recorded vote has been taken on this amendment.

  • The Senate: a vote on a proposed change to the billAmendment Rejected 46–53

A vote on one change, not on the bill. A bill can collect dozens of these, and losing one does not stop it.
