What this amendment would do

SA 5791, submitted by Mr. Padilla, is an amendment to SA 5453.

The purpose of this amendment is to add Section 204, which focuses on prohibiting racial profiling in immigration enforcement.

It aims to ensure that no funds from this Act or any other Act are used for public-facing immigration enforcement actions where the following are used as the sole basis to form a reasonable suspicion to stop, arrest, or detain someone:

Nationality
English proficiency
Any other perceived or actual protected characteristic
