What this amendment would do

SA 5597, submitted by Mr. Kaine, aims to add a section to bill S. 2 that prohibits certain nonprosecution agreements.

The purpose of this amendment is to ensure that a Department of Justice nonprosecution agreement has no force or effect if it meets the following criteria:

It is made with a President, Vice President, or the spouse or child of those individuals.
It permanently bars further prosecution or other Federal efforts to recover lost tax revenue.
