What this amendment would do

SA 5550, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a section regarding the Department of Justice to the end of title II.

The amendment proposes the following changes:

  • It sets the amount appropriated to the Secretary of Homeland Security under section 203 at $2,000,000,000.

  • It appropriates $500,000,000 to the Attorney General for fiscal year 2026.

  • These funds are to remain available until September 30, 2029, for prosecutorial and investigatory efforts against Federal agents or officers who violate civil rights and Federal public corruption laws during immigration enforcement activities.
