What this amendment would do

SA 5549, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a section to bill S. 2 that prohibits the use of funds for specific activities.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop funds from being used for any activity where military, intelligence, or Federal law enforcement personnel violate State or Federal laws related to elections. This includes:

Laws that prevent voter intimidation or interference with an election.
Laws preventing the imposition or attempted imposition of regulations for conducting an election that differ from those prescribed by law.
Restricting presence at election offices, polling places, locations where certification, counting, or vote canvassing occurs, or other locations where an election is held.
