SA 5511, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a "Transparency and accountability" section to the end of section 202 of the bill.
The amendment proposes the following:
- Funding: At least $10,000,000 must be used to train and equip all officers and agents with activated body-worn cameras during immigration enforcement activities.
- Storage and Access: Funds will be used for the storage of footage and to make that footage accessible to Congress and the subjects of the footage.
- Spending Limitation: Other funds in this title cannot be obligated unless the money for the body-worn cameras has already been obligated and awarded.
