What this amendment would do

SA 5426, submitted by Mr. Welch, aims to add a new section (Section 4109) to title IV of S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate to prevent the consideration of legislation, amendments, or reports that would provide funding for the following in the Gaza strip as recognized by the United States on January 1, 2025:

  • United States military forces
  • Privately-contracted security forces

To waive or suspend this point of order, or to sustain an appeal of the Chair's ruling, an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members of the Senate is required.
