What this amendment would do

SA 5399, submitted by Mr. Reed, aims to change sections 2001 and 2002 of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to set specific requirements for reconciliation in the House and Senate:

  • House of Representatives: The Committee on Energy and Commerce must report changes in laws within its jurisdiction by May 15, 2026, that increase the deficit by no more than $1,000,000,000,000 for fiscal years 2026 through 2035.

  • Senate: The Committee on Finance must report changes in laws within its jurisdiction by May 15, 2026, that increase the deficit by no more than $1,000,000,000,000 for fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
