What this amendment would do

SA 5394, submitted by Ms. Klobuchar, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a reserve fund for increasing investments in agriculture and nutrition. This would allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to adjust budgetary levels and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to:

  • Investing in domestic fertilizer production
  • Local food purchases
  • Nutrition benefits for families in need
  • The farm safety net
  • Agricultural disaster assistance
  • Agriculture research and innovation
