What this amendment would do
SA 5391, submitted by Mr. Gallego, aims to add a section to title III of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to address the issue of preventing credit reporting companies from putting inaccurate medical debt information on consumer credit reports.
This change would allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:
- Revise allocations of committees, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for various legislative actions, such as bills, joint resolutions, amendments, motions, or conference reports.
These adjustments are permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
