What this amendment would do
SA 5377, submitted by Ms. Rosen, is an amendment to S. Con. Res. 33, which sets the congressional budget for fiscal year 2026 and budgetary levels for fiscal years 2027 through 2035.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This would allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to adjust budget allocations and the pay-as-you-go ledger to increase funding for the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Justice.
The aim is to provide more resources to investigate both ongoing and future allegations of misconduct against the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
