What this amendment would do

SA 5370, submitted by Mr. Reed, aims to add a section to title III of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a reserve fund for building 5,000,000 new housing units.

It would allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to adjust budgetary levels, committee allocations, and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to this goal. This includes:

  • Investments in the Housing Trust Fund.
  • Investments in the HOME Investment Partnerships program.
  • Investments to lower regulatory barriers to new home construction.
