What this amendment would do
SA 5352, submitted by Mr. Bennet, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to support immigration legal services for unaccompanied minors or families. This may include improving access to legal representation or supporting legal aid organizations.
To do this, the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate is allowed to:
- Revise aggregates, allocations of committees, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for relevant reports, motions, amendments, bills, or joint resolutions.
This is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
