What this amendment would do
SA 5296, submitted by Ms. Hassan and Mr. Warnock, aims to add a new section to title IV of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate. This means it would stop the Senate from considering certain bills, joint resolutions, amendments, or conference reports if they do not lower out-of-pocket prescription drug costs.
To bypass this restriction, the Senate would need:
- An affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members to waive or suspend the point of order.
- An affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members to sustain an appeal of the Chair's ruling on the point of order.
- 4/22/2026
- 1 Cosponsor added.
