What this amendment would do
SA 5287, submitted by Mrs. Murray, aims to add a new section to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for legislation that restricts the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or U.S. Customs and Border Protection at child care centers and schools.
Specifically, the amendment would allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:
- Revise aggregates, allocations of committees, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for various reports, motions, amendments, or bills related to these restrictions.
This is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit for the total of fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
