What this amendment would do

SA 5242, submitted by Ms. Cantwell, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to replace the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration aircraft fleet that will be obsolete by 2030.

This change would allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to adjust budget allocations, aggregates, and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to:

  • Purchasing new G550 Hurricane Hunter aircraft
  • Purchasing new C-130J Hurricane Hunter aircraft

This is provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
