What this amendment would do
SA 5212, submitted by Ms. Alsobrooks, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to prevent the repeal of prescription drug reforms that lower out-of-pocket costs for families and seniors.
The amendment would allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to:
- Revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for specific legislative actions, such as bills, joint resolutions, amendments, motions, or conference reports.
This is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit for the total period of fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
