What this amendment would do

SA 5160, submitted by Mr. Sanders, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to expand Medicare coverage to include:

  • Dental services
  • Vision services
  • Hearing services

This would allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to adjust budget allocations and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation related to these expansions, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
