What this amendment would do

SA 5141, submitted by Mr. Whitehouse, aims to add a new section called TITLE V--POLICY STATEMENTS to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to establish a policy statement declaring that it was improper for the following to occur:

  • The Department of Homeland Security spending $70,000,000 on a luxury jet, featuring a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, for executive travel by then-Secretary Kristi Noem, given that the Department already had enough travel accommodations.

  • The White House subsequently commandeering that jet for use by the First Lady and select Cabinet Secretaries.
