What this amendment would do

SA 5136, submitted by Mr. Whitehouse, is an amendment to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33. This resolution sets the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2026 and the budgetary levels for fiscal years 2027 through 2035.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a policy statement regarding Medicaid work requirements. It aims to add the following:

  • If the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services does not issue the interim final rule on Medicaid work requirements required by Public Law 119-21 by June 1, 2026, the implementation of those work requirements shall be postponed for 1 year.
