What this amendment would do
SA 5108, submitted by Mr. Durbin, aims to add a section to title IV of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate. This point of order would prevent the consideration of any:
- Bill
- Joint resolution
- Motion
- Amendment
- Amendment between the Houses
- Conference report
unless that specific action prohibits the Social Security Trust Funds from investing in crypto-related investments or digital assets.
The amendment also specifies that this point of order can only be waived, suspended, or appealed with an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members of the Senate.
