SA 5085, submitted by Ms. Rosen, aims to add a new section to title IV of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate against any legislation that explicitly allows Department of Homeland Security officers and agents to carry out immigration enforcement actions within 1,000 feet of sensitive locations. These locations include:
- Schools
- Medical facilities
- Places of worship
- Child care facilities
- Courthouses
The amendment also specifies that this point of order can only be waived, suspended, or appealed with an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members of the Senate.
