What this amendment would do

SA 5075, submitted by Mr. Lujan, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for the COPS Hiring Program.

It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make the following changes for legislation related to the program:

  • Revise allocations of committees or committees.
  • Revise aggregates and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
  • Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

This is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
