What this amendment would do
SA 5067, submitted by Mr. Lujan, aims to add a section to title III of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund specifically for investigating cases of missing and murdered indigenous persons.
It allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to:
- Revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for specific legislative actions, such as bills, joint resolutions, amendments, motions, or conference reports.
These changes are permitted for legislation relating to investigating missing and murdered indigenous persons, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2026 through 2035.
