What this amendment would do
SA 5055, submitted by Mr. Lujan, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to lower broadband costs for working families and prevent households from being priced out of essential internet access.
It intends to achieve this by:
- Re-funding the Federal Communications Commission's Affordable Connectivity Program.
- Allowing the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, other levels, and the pay-as-you-go ledger for related legislation.
This is provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
