What this amendment would do
SA 4955, submitted by Mr. Van Hollen, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for Social Security Administration customer service.
It would allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:
- Revise allocations of committees, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for specific legislation, such as bills, joint resolutions, amendments, motions, or conference reports.
This is intended to increase resources for customer service at the Social Security Administration, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
