What this amendment would do
SA 4953, submitted by Mr. Van Hollen, aims to add a section to title III of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for Inspector General funding. It allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to:
- Revise allocations of committees, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
These actions can be taken for legislation, amendments, or reports that focus on ensuring Inspector General offices have adequate resources and funding to investigate:
- Waste
- Fraud
- Abuse
This is provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
