What this amendment would do

SA 4949, submitted by Mr. Van Hollen, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for cancer research. It allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to:

  • Revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
  • Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

These changes apply to legislation, such as bills or amendments, that increase Federal Government funding for cancer research, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
