What this amendment would do
SA 4942, submitted by Mr. VAN HOLLEN, aims to add a new section to title IV of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate against funding any Federal agencies that lack clear policies for:
- Sharing evidence.
- Cooperating in investigations conducted by State and local law enforcement agencies regarding deaths or serious bodily harm caused to residents of those jurisdictions.
This point of order can only be waived, suspended, or used to sustain an appeal of the Chair's ruling with an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members of the Senate.
