What this amendment would do
SA 4935, submitted by Mr. Peters, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for replenishing funding in the Disaster Relief Fund.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
- It allows for adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation, motions, or reports relating to funding for the Disaster Relief Fund.
- This funding may include assistance for victims of hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, or other natural disasters.
- The change is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
