What this amendment would do
SA 4929, submitted by Mr. Gallego, aims to add a section to title III of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund regarding the prohibition of military funeral honors for individuals who participated in the January 6, 2021 insurrection.
This change would allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:
- Revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for reports, motions, amendments, or legislation related to this prohibition.
- Include legislation specifically prohibiting Ashli Babbitt from being eligible for military funeral honors under section 985 of title 10, United States Code.
The amendment specifies that these actions are provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
