What this amendment would do
SA 4928, submitted by Ms. Hirono, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund regarding the prosecutorial and investigatory power of state and local authorities over the conduct of federal immigration officials.
This change would allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to:
- Revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for specific legislative actions, such as bills, joint resolutions, amendments, motions, or conference reports.
These adjustments are permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
