What this amendment would do

SA 4917, submitted by Mr. Schiff, aims to add a section to the end of title III of S. Con. Res. 33.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for the establishment of the Select Committee on Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Disclosures of Related Information, Documents, and Materials.

Specifically, it allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:

  • Revise allocations of committees, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
  • Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation, motions, or reports related to establishing this Select Committee.

These adjustments are permitted by the amounts provided in the legislation, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
