What this amendment would do
SA 4871, submitted by Ms. Rosen, aims to add a section to title III of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to stop the implementation of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection rule. This specific rule requires people to provide 5 years of social media information when they apply for a visitor visa.
To achieve this, the amendment allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to:
- Revise allocations of committees or aggregates.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for relevant legislation.
This is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 and 2035.
