What this amendment would do
SA 4870, submitted by Ms. Rosen, aims to add a section to title IV of the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a point of order in the Senate against any measure that would implement a policy requiring people to provide 5 years of their social media history when applying for a visitor visa to the United States.
-
Restrictions: It would prevent the Senate from considering any bill, joint resolution, motion, amendment, or conference report that requires this social media history.
-
Exceptions: This restriction can only be waived, suspended, or appealed if three-fifths of the Senate Members, duly chosen and sworn, vote in favor of doing so.
