What this amendment would do
SA 4868, submitted by Ms. Rosen, aims to add a section to title III of S. Con. Res. 33.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund focused on reducing wait times for DACA renewal applications.
To achieve this, the amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to:
- Revise allocations of committees, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
- Make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation, motions, or reports related to reducing DACA renewal wait times.
- Include the hiring of immigration specialists at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
The change is permitted as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2026 through 2035.
