What this amendment would do
-
Mr. Schatz submitted this amendment, known as SA 470, for the 2025 congressional budget resolution.
-
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund that focuses on combating white nationalism and extremism in the Armed Forces.
-
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to make adjustments and revise allocations for legislation that tackles this issue, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit between fiscal years 2025 and 2034.
What The Changes Add
-
The added funds can be used by the Department of Defense to investigate or dismiss individuals who are active in or members of specific groups.
-
The groups explicitly mentioned in the text are white nationalist, neo-Nazi, Proud Boys, neo-Confederate, anti-American militia, or Patriot Front organizations.
