What this amendment would do

SA 4383, submitted by Mr. Padilla, aims to add a section to H.R. 6644 focused on streamlining federal affordable housing development programs.

The purpose of this amendment is to have the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development coordinate with Federal and State agencies to simplify the work required for the following groups to increase housing supply:

Developers
Realtors
State and local housing authorities
Nonprofit organizations

Within one year of the Act's enactment, the Secretary must also provide a report to Congress that includes:

The steps taken to streamline these initiatives.
Federal laws and regulations that hinder the streamlining of funding sources.
Recommendations for changes to regulations or statutes to help achieve these goals.
