What this amendment would do

SA 4267, submitted by Mr. Bennet, is an amendment to bill H.R. 7148.

The purpose of this amendment is to restrict how funds from the Act are used regarding the detention of children and their primary caregivers. It aims to add a new section (Sec. 239) that prohibits the use of funds to detain a child or a primary caregiver unless the Secretary of Homeland Security shows that using a community-based supervision program is not practicable or is unreasonable.
