What this amendment would do

SA 4261, submitted by Mr. Murphy, is an amendment to bill H.R. 7148.

The purpose of this amendment is to add Section 555, which aims to restrict how funds are used by the Department of Homeland Security.

  • It prohibits the use of funds from this Act or any other Act to support immigration enforcement operations by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or U.S. Customs and Border Protection if a Department of Homeland Security employee does not cooperate with an investigation by a State or local official or agency.

  • This specific lack of cooperation must relate to the use of force by an employee of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
