What this amendment would do
The amendment, called the No Immigration Benefits for Hamas Terrorists Act of 2026, aims to change the Immigration and Nationality Act to stop certain individuals from receiving immigration benefits.
It seeks to add the following changes to the bill:
-
Inadmissibility: It adds Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas to the list of organizations whose members or representatives are inadmissible. It also makes any alien who planned, financed, participated in, or supported the attacks against Israel started by Hamas on October 7, 2023, inadmissible.
-
Ineligibility for Relief: It states that any alien involved in the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks against Israel is ineligible for any relief under immigration laws.
-
Removability: It updates the law to ensure these individuals can be removed.
-
Accountability: It requires the Secretary of Homeland Security to report to Congress every year on the number of aliens found to be inadmissible or removable under these specific rules.
