SA 4182, submitted by Mr. Van Hollen and Ms. Alsobrooks, aims to add requirements regarding the name of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to bill H.R. 6938.
The amendment proposes the following changes:
-
Reverting Name Changes: The Board of Trustees must change the name of the center back to the name used before December 18, 2025, on all U.S. buildings, materials, displays, regulations, maps, documents, papers, or records. This must happen within 30 days of the Act's enactment for any changes made on or after December 18, 2025.
-
Funding Restrictions: No funds from this Act or any other appropriation Act may be used to change any reference to the name of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on U.S. buildings, materials, displays, or records.
-
Reporting Requirement: Within 90 days of enactment, the Board of Trustees must provide a report to the House and Senate Subcommittees on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. This report must account for all funds used on or after December 18, 2025, to change references to the center's name.
