What this amendment would do

The American Music Tourism Act of 2026 is an amendment proposed by Mrs. Blackburn to be added to bill H.R. 6938. Its purpose is to update the Visit America Act to specifically include and promote music tourism.

The amendment aims to add the following to the bill:

  • Assistant Secretary Responsibilities: It requires the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Travel and Tourism to identify, facilitate, and promote both domestic and international travel to locations and events in the United States that are important to music tourism.

  • International Travel: It updates the goals for facilitating international business and leisure travel to include promoting international tourism to music-related locations and events.

  • Reporting: It mandates that the Assistant Secretary submit a report every two years (starting one year after enactment) to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the House Committee on Energy and Commerce regarding activities, findings, achievements, and vulnerabilities related to travel goals.

  • Definition of Music Tourism: It defines music tourism as traveling to a state or locality to visit music-related attractions (such as studios, museums, and venues) or to attend music-related special events, concerts, or festivals.
