What this amendment would do

SA 4151, submitted by Mr. Schumer, aims to restrict how the Department of Justice uses funds from the bill.

The purpose of this amendment is to stop the Department of Justice from approving or facilitating claims that meet two specific conditions:

  • The claim is subject to the Federal Tort Claims Act.
  • The claim results in a personal payment, such as a settlement or payment from the Judgment Fund, for the personal benefit of the President.
