What this amendment would do

SA 4113, submitted by Ms. Klobuchar, aims to change the funding for the commercial motor vehicle enforcement training and support grant program within bill S. 2465.

The amendment proposes the following:

  • Transfer $5,000,000 in additional obligation limitation from unobligated amounts provided for Motor Carrier Safety Grants in the FAST Act or section 23001 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act prior to fiscal year 2026.

  • Derive $5,000,000 from the Highway Trust Fund (excluding the Mass Transit Account) for the payment of obligations, available until September 30, 2027.

  • Use these funds to complete the fiscal year 2024 commercial motor vehicle enforcement training and support grant program notice of funding opportunity for all eligible applicants.
