What this amendment would do
SA 3929, submitted by Mr. Kelly, aims to add a new section (Sec. 718) to the bill regarding TRICARE coverage transition requirements.
The purpose of this amendment is to ensure covered beneficiaries are notified when they must make a different election to stay enrolled in the TRICARE program, such as when they reach a certain age.
The amendment adds the following requirements:
-
Electronic Notices: The Secretary must send electronic notices to beneficiaries one year, 180 days, and 30 days before a coverage transition requirement occurs.
-
Public Awareness: The Secretary must run an outreach campaign using social media, the TRICARE website, and family readiness groups.
-
Accountability: The Secretary must send a report to congressional defense committees at least once a year. This report must include metrics on the outreach campaign and suggestions for improving how beneficiaries are made aware of these requirements.
