What this amendment would do

SA 3862, submitted by Mr. Bennet, is an amendment to SA 3748 regarding bill S. 2296. The bill focuses on authorizations for fiscal year 2026 for military activities of the Department of Defense, military construction, and defense activities of the Department of Energy.

The purpose of this amendment is to replace section 1228 with a new section titled INTELLIGENCE SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE.

This change aims to require the Director of National Intelligence and the Secretary of Defense to provide intelligence support to the Government of Ukraine. This support includes:

  • Imagery collection authorized under applicable law

The goal of this support is to assist military operations of the Government of Ukraine that are reasonably expected or specifically intended to retake and defend the territory of Ukraine described in section 1245 of the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023.
